Meet The Teacher

Many of you know me as Ms. Sain. Last October I married Darrell Stevenson. He and I reside in Hiddenite. This is my 21st year at Oakwood. I began as a teacher assistant in 2003 I had the privilege of working in all grade levels. While at Oakwood, my husband and my co-workers encouraged me to enroll at Appalachian State University to pursue my bachelor's degree in education. With the support of my husband , daughter, son-in-law, and my Oakwood family, I obtained my degree from Appalachian State University in December of 2009. I began my career as a second grade teacher in the fall of 2010. I am currently in my 13 year as a classroom teacher at Oakwood. I love watching my students grow and learn. My goal is to help each of my students reach their full potential.
My husband lost his battle with cancer on September 22, 2011. We were happily married for 28 years. We have one daughter, Adrienne her husband Josh and two amazing grandchildren, Kendra and Kolby.
I believe that communication with families and teachers is a key component to your child's success. I am available to discuss questions or concerns about you child. The best time to reach me is during my office hours. I have listed them below.
